Tennis players elated with opening of courts

Davao City – Local lawn tennis players took time to replenish their skills as local courts opened this week after a long lockdown due to the pandemic.

Local tennis players led by former RP number one ranked 18 under age grouper Paolo Cansino (right) at the Ecoland -IV Tennis courts.

Tennisters from all ages had their turns of playing back this time with precautionary measures which were set as guidelines by the Inter Agency Task Force on General Quarantine Community (GCQ) areas.

Over at the Ecoland Phase 4 Tennis Club, players take their game from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m and from 2 to 5 in the afternoon.

More local players in action in the afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.

‘It is good that we can practice our skills again with the opening of the tennis courts,’ said former RP number one 18 under age grouper Paolo Cansino after playing last Tuesday afternoon.

‘We only have to follow the court guidelines upon entering such as the use of mask and practice social distancing before and after the games,’ added UAAP campaigner James Pipo, a Davao-based players who plays for the University of Sto. Tomas (UST).

Morning players take it from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Players are required to wear face mask within the premises but are allowed not to use it during playtime.

Also seeing action were Atty. Arnold Sarabia, Eco-IV member Emmet Ayroso and Johannes Nacilla.

Tennis is one of the sports activities approved by the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) Omnibus guidelines Section 4(13) on General Quarantine Community (GCQ) areas aside from walking, jogging, running, cycling, golf, equestrian, skateboarding, badminton and swimming. IATF guidelines also allows people below 21 years of age and above 60 years old.
