A female tarsier was rescued by a resident and turned over to the Caraga Municipal Police Station on Sunday morning.

Maj. Eudisan Gultiano, the spokesperson of Police Regional Office XI, commended Melvin Taming, 40, a resident of Sitio Balite, Barangay Santiago, Caraga, Davao Oriental for the presence of mind to rescue the vulnerable species.

Taming was clearing his farm when the chanced mammal. He immediately alerted the barangay officials who accompanied him to the police station.
The tarsier is now under the custody of the City Environment of Natural Resources Office Manay, which will eventually release it into its habitat.

Personnel of the Caraga Municipal Police Station, led by Capt. Fidelito Viola Jr., turned over the tarsier to Cenro at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday. The police station commander also praised the barangay officials for their prompt action.
