DCPO belies viral video about kidnapping incident

THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) has debunked a viral social media video regarding an alleged kidnapping incident.

City police director Col. Richard P. Bad-ang ordered Ecoland Police Station chief Major Noel Villahermosa to launch an investigation upon being informed about the video.

A thorough investigation, primarily involving the family and parties concerned, confirmed that the young lady was never snatched.

Meanwhile, the DCPO urges the public to refrain from sharing the video considering the person involved is a minor and requires protection from further exposure.

Bad-ang said the video implicates a serious crime that jeopardizes the safety and security of the city.

“Therefore, this office once again calls upon every Davaoeño to join us in the fight against all forms of criminality or fake news. Let’s protect our beloved city for our families and the next generation,” said the DCPO.

“Allegations of abduction are serious and threaten our city’s safety,” it added. “We urge Davaoeños to help us combat fake news and criminality. Let’s protect our city for a safer future.”
