SENIOR citizens of the city will soon be able to use their cash assistance from the city government using the Safe Davao Quick Response (SD QR) Code card similar to an automated teller machine card.

Pastor Luis Moran of the Office of the Senior Citizen Affairs said the initiative is on the final stage and in partnership with the City Information and Technology Center and City Social Welfare Development Office.

“Almost okay na ang supplier and the bank nalang ang naay legal nga ginahigsutan para ma plastar ang atoang SD QR card,” Moran said, adding that the office is waiting for the printed cards as it has started informing the beneficiaries about this new development.

“Una sila dapat makahibalo kay maglisod na sila kung asa nila kuhaon, kinsa’y mohatag, kanus-a ihatag, kinahanglan gyud nato og joint supervision for this purpose,” he said.

Aside from the senior citizens, the cards will also benefit persons with disabilities (PWDs).

“Ang CSWDO ginaplastar tanan kay duha man gud ginahimo para sa senior and PWD. Naay senior ug PWD, nagkahiusa lang mi unsaon pagplastada,” Moran said.

However, he said that since the cards will not be released at once, other seniors will still receive printed OSCA identification cards that they can use their cash aid.

On May 19, the city council approved an amendment to Ordinance Number 0105-19, the local law that grants annual P1,500 cash assistance to 65 or older.  The amendment brings down the age limit of the beneficiaries to 60.
