Rice aid to continue, says Sara

The city government will continue to provide rice subsidy to residents in need dependent on the availability of the supply.

“Tabangan gihapon nato sila until naa pa, until makahatag pa ta og bugas para ma-augment ang ilahang pagkaon diha sa sulod sa ilang mga balay (We will continue helping them as long as we have the resources until we can still give them rice to augment food needs in their homes),” Mayor Sara Duterte said on Thursday.

The statement of the mayor came about even as the city government announced it completed the fourth round of rice distribution to all of the 182 barangays, with the latest being facilitated by the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) community whose distribution covered about 81% of the villages.

The latest rice volume that is being distributed has been smaller compared with the previous distribution activities as the city government has relaxed the quarantine protocols, allowing many of the residents to resume working.

“Gi-reduce nato because GCQ (general community quarantine) na man. So dunay uban sa atoa nga namalik na sa trabaho, therefore they can expect nga aduna sila’y sweldo,” she said, adding that the next distribution will focus on those that have yet to return to work or find new jobs.
