Night market visitors to show faces before entry

VISITORS will be required to take off their face masks during the security check once the Roxas Night Market reopens next week.

“They will be required to lower down their face masks for recognition in the inspection area with transparent barriers,” Col. Consolito Yecla, Task Force Davao commander, said.

The TF Davao has also conducted security and safety orientation for the vendors and barangay officials. A designated parking area a safe distance away was also identified for motorcycles.

Also, the city government will run a baseline swabbing test for all vendors, masseuse, and security personnel of the Roxas Night Market to ensure the safety of the public against the coronavirus when the night market reopens on Sept. 12.

“The intention of baseline swabbing is to ensure there is no positive case that can infect people going to the Roxas Night Market,” Mayor Inday Sara Duterte said on Tuesday’s broadcast of the Davao City Disaster Radio.

The city only allows vendors on rotation every two weeks. Only 25 percent of the total number of vendors and masseuse are allowed to operate when the market re-opens this month.

And, each new batch of vendors will be swabbed before they will be allowed to operate at the night market, she added.

The city government will also strictly implement the minimum health protocols such as wearing face masks, physical distancing, handwashing, and the provision of footbath stations.
