NFEM receives 3 attack boats

THE Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao (NFEM) has improved its capability after the arrival of three newly-assigned attack seacraft.

This during the arrival ceremony to welcome the 4th Boat Attack Division of the Philippine Fleet,

Lt Nicheru Brien Claudio, NFEM public information officer, said the multi-purpose attack craft (MPAC are part of the naval assets for the Active Archipelagic Defense Strategy of the Philippine Navy.

The event was headed by it commanding officer, Commander (CDR) Malone Agudelo and was held at the DPWH Pier, Naval Station Felix Apolinario.

The craft, which form part of the 4th BA Division, are to be used to conduct fast interception, perform rapid attacks, deliver precision fire and launch missile strikes to support NFEM and the Eastern Mindanao Command’s (EMC) mission. 

Claudio said the attack boats are also capable of providing support to ground troops, point defense, force/security escort, medical and casualty evacuation, and limited personnel transport. 

Each attack boat is equipped with spike-extended range missile launch system, mini typhoon machine gun system, light machine guns, automatic rifles, and pistols. 

With a cruising speed of 30-35 knots and a maximum speed of 45 knots, they will be able to pursue fleeing enemies during Hot Pursuit operations, he added.

“It underwent weapon system integration last year that’s why is is equipped with Spike ER Weapon System at Mini typhoon Machine Gun System, Missile capable. Compare to the Boat Attacks in the 1st and 2nd Division,” the official said.
