‘MY TREE’ | A Painting Exhibit

IN A world filled with concrete jungles and towering skyscrapers, a single tree on a street corner is a welcome breather to get back to nature, to swaying branches and green leaves, to soft grassy ground, and roots hidden within.

Trees are a symbol of life. They are the veins of the earth that hold the ground together and give life and shade to living things. They are a vital part of keeping the balance in the earth’s ecosystem. But as our world modernized, buildings replaced trees in our natural landscapes. Cutting trees to build a more modern landscape gave way at times to unnatural terrain and a weakened state of the earth’s ecosystem.

‘My Tree’ is a painting exhibit organized by Artists Initiative to raise awareness about preserving and nurturing trees, especially rare species like hardwood. Each painting uniquely portrays the interconnectedness between nature — symbolized by trees — and human life. Viewers are invited to discover both the unique properties of hardwood trees and the beauty of preserving these God-given gifts of creation as seen from the eyes of over 30 local and international artists from Davao City, Tagum, Mati, the USA, and Germany.

The exhibit will run from March 15 to 29 at the ARC Art Space, La Herencia, Davao City.
