MUSEO DABAWENYO will have two upcoming facilities to continue promoting and preserving Davao City’s rich history and diverse cultural heritage.
Jason Arceo, officer-in-charge of Museo Dabawenyo, said there is ongoing research by experts to put more exhibits that are focused on Davao City. The next facility, a five-story building, will be established near the Museo Dabawenyo Event Center to be completed by this year.
The third facility will soon open on the fifth floor of the National Museum of the Philippines – Davao (located within People’s Park) while waiting for the outputs to be exhibited at the venue.
He said that the influx of tourists poses a challenge since Davao City currently has the National Museum of the Philippines-Davao and Museo Dabawenyo, which can cause confusion among visitors.
“So, karon nagabuhat mi og information drive or promotion kung asa gyud ang location ni Museo Dabawenyo, unsa ang facilities na upcoming,” he said during the iSpeak media forum on May 5.
Museo Dabawenyo Event Center recently reopened at Barangay 10-A, Mabini St. near Davao City National High School on May 9, 2025, featuring 50 historical objects related to the city’s history, arts, and culture.
The previous location was originally at Juna Subdivision and had catered to a monthly average of around 2,500 visitors.
The event center is free to the public and opens from Monday to Saturday, 8:30 am to 5:3 pm. It is also one of the three facilities that were created by former mayor Sara Duterte and was continually supported by Mayor Sebastian Duterte.
