MOA with DOH okayed

The city council has approved the ordinance granting the authority to the city mayor to sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Health (DOH)- Center for Health Development.

Approved on Tuesday, the ordinance will give opportunity to the city mayor to represent the city government in all business transactions with the agency sign in its behalf all bonds, contracts, and obligations and such other documents.

Councilor Mary Joselle D. Villafuerte proponent of the ordinance, said part of the MOA to be signed is the construction of P60 million City Health Office (CHO) in front of Bonifacio Monument, a structure with five floors.

The city government will shoulder P15 million of the cost of the project and the remainder will be funded by the DOH, Villafuerte said.

The agreement will also involve the repair of three health centers in Brgy. Paquibato, Fatima and Talomo.

Villafuerte said that the renovation of each health center will cost P1 million and will be funded by the agency which will also donate 16 ambulances with each having a cost of about P2.5 million.
