MJ farm busted

A marijuana farm, with around P2 million worth of planted cannabis, was busted by the authorities in Tarragona, Davao Oriental on Thursday afternoon.

Antonio Rivera, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) regional director, told TIMES yesterday that they uprooted 10,000 hills of fully grown marijuana plants cultivated by father and son, Melindo and Jurel Malintad in Sitio Tagbaloyan, Brgy Tubaon.

The suspects were no longer around when they arrived in the remote area around 5 p.m.

The PDEA was aided by its provincial office led by Eleasar Arapoc, Tarragona Municipal Police Station led by Capt. Ramil Rivera, 1st Davao Oriental Provincial Mobile Force Company led by Capt. Adonis Lisaca, 3rd Company of Regional Mobile Force Battalion led by Capt. Amante Nozares, Charlie Company of the 67th Infantry Battalion led by 1st Lt. Cornelio Buslon, 28th IB led by 1st Lt. Daniel Diola, Davao Oriental Police Provincial Intelligence Branch led by Lt. Col. Archie Zozobrado and Investigation and Detection Management Branch led by Major Miguelito Cabahug.

The uprooted plants were burned on the spot and samples were brought to the regional office as evidence against the suspect.

Tarragona, a third-class town, borders the capital city of Mati on the south.
