ANOTHER City Transport and Traffic Management (CTTMO) employee was arrested by elements of the Talomo police in a buy-bust operation conducted at Purok Concepcion, Matina Crossing at 6:10 p.m. on July 19.
He was identified as Anthony Hell Alemerez, a CTTMO administrative staff and a resident of Bajada.
Maj. Sea Logronio, the Talomo Police Station commander, said he was arrested after he sold a sachet of shabu to a police undercover. He said the operation was part of the PNP’s intensified campaign against high-value targets.
Confiscated during the operation were more or less 4.2 grams of suspected shabu packed in three sachets stuffed inside a green tennis ball with assorted bolts and nut inside used as additional weight. The confiscated drugs had an estimated value of P66,000. Also seized from him were the P1,500 marked money and the Android cellphone used in the transaction.
He added Alemerez could be considered as one of the city police’s high-value targets who was involved in illegal drug activities for quite some time now.
“We have been monitoring him for his involvement in the illegal drug trade and finally, we have him caught,” he said. “We cannot lower our guard, especially that we are on a pandemic.”
A case for violation of the Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act will be filed against the suspect, who is currently detained in the Talomo station.
Just last month, a traffic enforcer was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Palanca Village, Matina Crossing.
The suspect was identified as Djan Labor Escoton, 42, who was assigned at the Relief Bridge in Matina. Recovered from the suspect’s possession were three sachets of suspected shabu, the P2,000 buy-bust money, and a cellular phone that was used for his illegal transaction.
In February last year, Reynaldo Deiparine, also assigned at the CTTMO, was arrested in a raid of a drug den. The drug den was supposedly operated by a son of a former city councilor.
