DTI XI urges MSMEs to adopt green practices in production

The Department of Trade and Industry in the region urged micro, small, and medium enterprises to integrate sustainability in sourcing raw materials and promote zero waste in their production.

According to Deolly Roque, chief of the DTI XI Consumer Protection Division, business establishments must also consider recycling, reusing, and reducing waste in the manufacturing process.

“Our MSMEs right now are into using eco-friendly packaging,” she said.

The agency will intensify its campaign for a green economy in line with this year’s Consumer Welfare Month theme, “Sustainable Consumption: Understanding the Impact of Consumer’s Choice in a Shared Environment.”

DTI XI information officer Jenny Grace Mendoza added that this is the first time they adopted sustainable consumption as the theme of the Consumer Welfare Month.

“I am encouraging everyone, the consumers to help in eliminating plastics. As much as possible, we will not use disposable utensils. It is our responsibility to look into what we use, what we practice, and the lifestyle we lead,” she added.
