‘Drug dealer’ killed after alleged police shootout

An alleged drug pusher was killed by elements of the Toril police after he allegedly resisted arrest during a buy-bust in Babisa Village, Barangay Lizada, Toril District at 8:10 p.m. on Sunday.

Lt. Col. Jed Clamor, the Toril Police Station commander, identified him as Norhan Panasilan Sanchez, 33, jobless, and a resident of Purok 3, Barangay Sirawan, Toril.

Clamor said the suspect drew his gun after sensing that he was dealing with a police operative. He allegedly fired at the police officers but missed.

“That resulted in a brief gunbattle between the suspect and the operating police officers,” he added.

The suspect was brought to St. John of the Cross Hospital in Toril for multiple gunshot wounds. But they endorsed him to the Southern Philippine Medical Center (SPMC) for the severity of his condition. He did not make it to the government-owned hospital.

The Scene of the Crime Operatives recovered one .38 revolver with two live bullets, along with three cartrides and two 9mm cartridges at the area.

Recovered from the suspect was the marked money worth P500; one brown sling bag containing a Samsung cellphone, wallet with 13 transparent plastic sachets of alleged shabu worth P70,000.

Clamor said the suspect was already arrested in a buy-bust operation on Feb. 28, 2019 and was released last July 2, 2019 following a plea bargain.
