IGDD: VAW tracking system fully operational

THE CITY’s Integrated Gender Development Division (IGDD) tracking system for Violence Against Women cases is now fully operational.

IGDD head Lorna Mandin said the system was launched during the 114th International Women’s Day celebration on March 8.

“During the soft launching, we tried the system using the data from IGDD, and it was already working,” Mandin said during the iSpeak media forum on April 25.

Mandin shared that IGGD has interfaced with the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), and the Department of Education Davao City Division to consolidate the reported VAW cases.

The tracking system is a data management system created to consolidate, record, track, and monitor real-time updates of VAW cases to unify the cases and prevent duplication.

Mandin said the databank will ensure clients receive the right services from agencies as it features a color coding scheme to indicate the service needed, whether legal or psychosocial.

Davaoeños are encouraged to report cases of gender-based violence, abuse, discrimination, and harassment on the hotline. The VAW  tracking system is the division’s initiative for zero gender-based violence in the city.

IGDD noted a 28% decrease in rape cases in 2023, with 128 incidents down from 178 cases in 2022, attributed to the continuous effort and proactive involvement of police stations and other local government agencies.
