Driver faces homicide rap for running over girl in accident

THE BANSALAN Police Station now has the custody of the Mitsubishi Strada driver who hit and killed a three-year-old girl playing beside a grocery store along R. Delos Cientos Street, Barangay Poblacion Uno, Davao del Sur, around 4:25 p.m. on Saturday.

Captain Orlando Udalve, officer-in-charge of Bansalan Municipal Police Station, identified the driver as Jeremiah Alfafara Corpuz, 25, singe, glass installer, and a resident of Purok Osmeña, Mabunga, Bansalan.

According to the report, Corpuz rented the Mitsubishi Strada and was about to return it to the owner. He was trying to park it in the garage beside the Catalan grocery when he failed to notice the girl sitting and playing in the vacant area.

Reportedly, there was a massive blind spot on the pickup truck’s front portion due to the ascending concrete shoulder.

The driver ran over the girl, causing severe injuries. Her mother rushed the victim to Centeno Medical Specialist but did not make it.

Corpuz faces a case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
