DCPO reports 1,435 violators of quarantine from March to May

The Davao City Police Office caught 1,435 quarantine violators from different barangays from March 15 until Saturday evening.

Col. Kirby John Kraft, DCPO director, told TIMES that as of 11 p.m. of May 15 to 11 p.m. of May 16, they arrested six for violating the curfew, five for liquor ban, six for social distancing/mass gathering, and 26 for abusing the food and medicine pass.

From 6 a.m. of March 15 to 11 p.m. of May 16, police also caught 1,104 individuals for violating the curfew, 189 for liquor ban, 142 for social distancing/mass gathering.

“We filed 1,132 cases from the total 1,435 arrested violators,” he said.

For the period April 4 to May 16, authorities ticketed 1,291 people for abusing and misusing the FM pass.

Meanwhile, 40 suspects were arrested in 15 operations against overpricing, hoarding, and profiteering. Police confiscated 3,191 liters of alcohol, 50 pieces of face masks, eight pieces of surgical gloves, 88 units of infrared thermal scanners, and 1,405 bottles for disinfectant/ liquid soap.

They also seized 26 sacks of calamansi, 40 sacks of rice, and 77 kilos of vegetables. Police already filed cases against 15 of the suspects.

Davao City has reverted to the general community quarantine, which lasts until the end of the month. The national government will again review the status of the city after the period, whether to continue the GCQ, elevate to enhanced community quarantine, or scale down to modified GCQ.
