CTTMO: Hike illegal parking fine to P5,000

Rampant  illegal parking in the city has provoked the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) to recommend the increase of penalty for illegal parking from a measly P500 to P5,000.

“It is already very rampant not only in the highways but also in the Central Business District,” CTTMO chief Dionisio Abude said. “They don’t mind the P500 penalty for illegal parking.”

According to Abude, these motorists will be disciplined if a higher penalty will be imposed. He said it will also help ease the traffic congestion in the busy area of the city.

“I recommend P5,000 so there will be compliance,” Abude added.

Abude’s request has been referred to the City Legal Office (CLO).

They are still waiting for the response from the CLO before they could endorse the request for the City Council for the amendment.

CTTMO also observed that huge company trucks are illegally parked earlier in the morning along the highways. However, the CTTMO has no capacity to tow huge vehicles.

Thus, CTTMO is also requesting a 10-wheeler towing truck to tow heavy trucks into the impounding area.
