The Davao Police Regional Office recorded a decrease in crime volume from 57 last week to just 39 this week.
Maj. Jason Baria, the PRO XI spokesperson, noted the continuing trajectory of the crime volume in Southern Mindanao since last year.
Based on the data from the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division for the period April 1 to 7, the region registered a 31% decline in the eight focused crimes.
The offenses under the statistics are murder, homicide, physical injuries, rape, robbery, theft, car theft, and motorcycle theft.
Baser on their record, homicide plunged from 4 to 1; physical injury dropped from 19 to 11 incidents; rape incidents lowered from 7 to 6; robbery was down from 9 to 4; theft declined from 10 to 8; car theft reduced from four to one, and motorcycle theft went down from 3 to 2 incidents. Meanwhile, they did not record a single incident for car theft.
Although he said the case of murder increased from 5 to 7 this week, it did not affect this week’s decrease in crime volume. “However, in totality, the average weekly crime incidence declined from 48 to 49 incidents per week on average compared to last year with 69-70 incidents per week, ” he added.
Brig. Gen Morales also emphasized that an oversight committee is conducted weekly to check the progress of the station commanders throughout the region to make sure they are reaching the organization’s target goals.
“We are experiencing a significant reduction in eight focused crimes not only because of the ongoing crackdown against drugs and other crimes but also due to the continuing strict enforcement of city and municipal ordinances which has prevented crimes,” he said.
Morales also said that their special operations like the Oplan Dabaw Kalinaw and the utilization of Police Riders’ Response in Davao (motorcycle cops) will continue.
“We will also go after violators of national laws and city/municipal ordinances as we reiterate that we aimed fully at keeping peace and order in the streets as ordered by the President and the PNP chief,” he ended.
