Cafgu member owes up to rape-slay of 10-year-old girl

A CITIZEN Armed Force Geographical Unit (Cafgu) member surrendered and confessed to the rape-slay of a 10-year-old student whose body was found in Barangay Daglagdag, Calinan District on April 9.

Police identified him as Joshua Pasaporte Pilongo, 20, a resident of Purok 4, Lower Lacson in Calinan.

Pilongo is now under the custody of the Calinan police while a rape with homicide case is prepared against him.

According to the report, Pilongo surrendered and claimed responsibility for the grisly crime on the girl, a resident of Purok 5 of the said barangay.

When the grandmother went to the Calinan Poblacion around 7:30 a.m., she left the victim to Pilongo, their relative’s live-in partner. When she returned by 11 a.m., the victim was already missing.

The victim was found by her grandmother in a state of decomposition on a banana plantation around 3 p.m. on April 7. She was naked except for a shirt. The grandmother claimed that she smelled a foul odor coming from a creek.

Meanwhile, in a separate phone interview, Brig Gen Marion Angcao, commander of the 1003rd Infantry Brigade, told TIMES that Pilongo was a Cafgu member under the 27th Infantry Battalion.

“Since he already confessed, he will be subject for termination, walang lugar yung mga ganyan klase na Cafgu and even sundalo sa organization (Cafgu and even soldiers like that have no place in the organization),” Angcao said.

“He will be terminated or dismissed immediately as Cafgu,” he added.

He was turned over to the PNP and will undergo the usual process.

Moreover, Ancao said they were not remiss in reminding their troops to be disciplined and respectful to their community.
