Authorities to file case vs. individuals caught outside on a Sunday

One hundred fifty-seven individuals were arrested by authorities for violating the food and medicine (FM) pass number coding scheme, especially during the Sunday lockdown.

Yesterday was the first Sunday of the new coding scheme, which prohibits residents from going out and using their FM passes.

Only employees from exempted industries and establishments (health/medical, food, financial, gas, courier, BPO, security forces, and the media) are allowed to leave their homes for work.

From 6 a.m. on April 18 until 6 a.m. on April 19, the Davao City Police Office recorded a total of 105 violators of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ). Of the number, 13 were arrested during the curfew enforcement, nine were caught drinking liquor, and 83 for violating the FM pass number code scheme.

Also, there were zero crime incidents reported yesterday.

Col. Kirby John Kraft, city police director, said they will show no mercy to those who will be caught violating the ECQ and the FM pass number coding scheme.

In Toril yesterday, personnel of the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO), along with the Barangay Police Auxilliary and volunteer security forces roamed around the streets of Rasay near UCCP church to make sure residents and tricycle drivers are following the lockdown.

16 arrested in Toril

Meanwhile, the Toril Police Station arrested 16 individuals after they were caught during yesterday’s lockdown.

Maj. Jason Baria, the commander of Toril police, said the mobile patrol arrested Amado Oco Esok, 55, construction worker; Rosela Parian Comeros, 47, housewife; Crispin Bangkil, 33, construction worker; Abdul Pascual, 53, driver; Raul Caylan, 32, driver; Lionel Catido, 33, driver; Nestor Cerdiña, 64, carpenter; and Aldrin Olbes, 50, contractor.

At 7:45 a.m., the mobile patrol arrested Joseph Senobio, 52; Ethelwaldo Lahot, 61; Chike Bustamante, 19; Jose Estrera Jr., 65, vendor; Nathaniel Tangan, 67; and Joel Dejos Imperial, 47.

Meanwhile, at 9:45 a.m., personnel of the Toril police, caught Kevin Ancia, 25, aircon technician, and Roseel Amar Manili, 24, bakery supervisor.

Baria said the violators were caught while they were loitering in Barangay Daliao.

There were residents who were handcuffed in the downtown area after violating the Sunday lockdown. They were reportedly stopped while going to work or on their way home from work, while a few claimed that they were out to buy medicines.
