Seven suspects were arrested by the Buhangin police after they were caught cockfighting and drinking in Sandawa village and Country Homes in Barangay Cabantian on Sunday.
They were identified as Jerson Lindo Daan, 28, driver, and a resident of Sandawa Village; Bernard Piamonte Albutra, 59, vendor, and a resident of Km. 5, Buhangin; Jay-ar Raman Barquio, 29, construction worker, and a resident of Talusa, Talomo District; Martin Ticson Baliling, 60, driver, and a resident of Km. 5, Barangay Pag-asa; and Joel Tehomis Zabate, 45, vendor, and a resident of Sandawa Village.
Maj. Estrello Ramiso, the Buhangin Police Station commander, said the suspects were caught in the act by the police operatives. They received information from a concerned citizen who reported the illegal activity to their station.
He said there were also others who managed to elude arrest but they are trying to identify them.
Seized from the possession of the suspects were two dead fighting cocks, two metal gaffes, and P300 bet money.
Meanwhile, another two were caught for drinking liquor in Purok Sagingan.
They were identified as Marjun Castos Vistal, 28, laborer, a native of Barangay Tanglad, Sta. Maria, Davao Occidental, and Randy Castos Alderite.
Reportedly, they were caught playing billiards and drinking liquor outside of their house. Taken from their possession were the playing cards, bet money amounting to P94.00, one partially consumed bottle of Tanduay long neck, two plastic cups, and two pitchers.
All suspects are now in the custody of the Buhangin Police Station while awaiting the case to be filed against them.
