Timesman | Inutil na buhay!

DALAWANG text messages mula sa isang nagpakilalang “Atty. Carlos A. Montero” ng Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) ang aking natanggap noong isang araw.
Ito ang nilalaman ng mensahe: “Your sim # had won Php. 850,000 from GMA Charity Fund; for more info please text: your name, address. I’m Atty. Carlos A. Montero DTI #9339s’2020 Thank You.” 03972297545 ang cellphone numerong ibinigay niya.

Memorandum Order No. 019-2020 on the “Social Media Guidelines for City Government Personnel” dated July 24 and signed by City Administrator Zuleika Lopez required government employees to “exercise caution and mindfulness when posting and sharing information using personal social media accounts.”
According to the order, “First-time offenders will be reprimanded; Suspension of one to 30 days for second-time offenders; and Dismissal from service for third-time offenders.”
This may be a harsh order from the city government to its employees at this time when everyone seems reeling to look for something as scapegoat, especially in social media to lessen the fear and impact of coronavirus when no one knows when it comes.
But we can’t also blame the city administrator for issuing the order against City Hall personnel criticizing the establishment because one has no business being employed if unsatisfied with his/her employer.
As if you’re biting the hand that feeds you!
Further, the order also “directed employees to refrain from posting demeaning and malicious comments on the city government’s policies, directives, and city –initiated projects and activities.”
We have plenty of this kind of chismoso/chismosa wasting government time doing their personal business.
Let’s see if the memorandum order is read by the people concerned.

After noticing that health protocols seem to be working to lessen the transmission of coronavirus to the public, Mayor Inday Sara reminded once again the residents to observe physical distancing, stay at home, wear face masks, and frequently wash their hands.
Davao City has a population of 1.6 million people, yet only a little more than 200 are active COVID-19 cases, she said.
“Although I don’t know the correct standard on how to measure it, but if we only based it on that, I think the people can contribute by following the health protocols, Mayor Inday Sara said in her regular radio program.
Mayor Inday Sara may not know it but she not only made people follow her reminder to be health conscious, but she has now inculcated in their minds the importance of discipline.
Congratulations!
