SARA URGES RESIDENT | Prepare for heavy rains

 

 

 

MAYOR Sara Duterte has reminded residents to be vigilant as a tropical storm is expected to inundate with heavy rains the city and the rest of the Davao Region as a tropical depression is approaching.

“Always remember nga tungod dili ninyo makita ang ulan, or walay ulan diraa sa inyong lugar, it does not mean nga walay ulan sa laing lugar.

So possible gihapon nga musaka ang tubig sa atong mga sapa,” Duterte said yesterday over Davao City Disaster Radio. She said the city government has also put on standby its rescue units and evacuation centers.

On Friday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pag-asa) released a forecast bulletin that the tropical depression is moving west-north-west and was expected to make a landfall between Davao Oriental-Surigao del Sur.

Storm Signal Number 1 has been raised in the Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao del Norte, Davao de Oro, Davao City, the northern portion of Davao del Sur (Santa Cruz, Digos City, Bansalan, Magsaysay, Matanao, Hagonoy), Camiguin, Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Cotabato City, North Cotabato, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and the northern portion of Zamboanga del Norte (Baliguian, Gutalac, Kalawit, Labason, Tampilisan, Liloy, Salug, Bacungan, Godod, Sindangan, Siayan, Jose Dalman, Manukan, Sergio Osmena Sr., Pres. Manuel A. Roxas, Katipunan, Dipolog City, Polanco, Pinan, Mutia, La Libertad, Dapitan City, Sibutad and Rizal.

At early Friday its eye was about 185 kilometers east of the city and was packing maximum winds of 45 kilometers per hour and a gustiness of 55 km/h.
