THE REGIONAL Internal Affairs Service (RIAS) has scheduled a pre-hearing conference for Davao City Police Office (DCPO) personnel recently relieved of their duties due to the ongoing investigation into fatal anti-drug operations.
Colonel Rolindo Suguilon, acting DCPO chief, said in a recent press briefing the officers would be given an opportunity to present their side of the story and any evidence they may have.
He added that the pre-hearing precedes a formal investigation into the reasons for their relief
The 35 relieved DCPO officers and personnel already reported to the Regional Internal Affairs Office.
Suguilon, who replaced the relieved Col. Richard Bad-ang, assured the public that anti-drug and anti-crime operations would continue, including pursuing wanted persons and those carrying illegal firearms.
On the other hand, PNP Director General Rommel Marbil clarified the dismissal (administrative relief) of 35 Davao City Police Office (DCPO) officers is part of the ongoing investigation into the deaths of seven suspected drug personalities during operations from March 23 to 26.
General Marbil stated the officers could be reinstated if cleared of wrongdoing.
The 20th City Council invited the PRO XI regional director to the next regular session to explain the circumstances behind the relief of the officers.
