SOLDIERS of the 16th Infantry Battalion rescued two individuals following heavy rains on Tuesday.

Based on the report, the military unit, which is based in Bukidnon, rescued the two residents of Sitio Mamato, Minawalwang Claveria during a search and rescue operations as houses were submerged due to the rise in the level of water following the unabated rains that started on Christmas eve.

Bukidnon and Misamis Oriental have reeled from the impact of the weather disturbance as several of their residents have left their homes to seek shelter on higher grounds.

An earlier report said two other individuals were killed in a landslide as the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Region 10 reported 9,839 families or 45,883 persons were evacuated from 73 barangays in Misamis Oriental and Misamis Occidental provinces.
