THE Police Regional Office has credited the competence of its investigators and the cooperation of residents in registering a high percentage of resolved cases.
In the weekly press conference Wednesday, Police Regional Director Benjamin Silo, said the region was able to resolve 97.71% of the cases filed with its stations due to the competence of police investigators but also the active participation of civilians.
This was based on the 1,006 cases of focus crimes filed between January 2 until September 17, 983 cases were already filed in court, 551 arrests were made, and 23 remain unsolved.
The regional office identified the focus crimes in its area include theft, rape, robbery, physical injury, murder, homicide, carnapping of motorcycle, and carnapping of motor vehicle.
“We are very thankful na ‘yong mga kababayan natin gising at nakikipagtulungan sa ating mga kapulisyahan para maresolba ‘yong mga krimen na nangyayari sa Davao Region,” Silo said.
However, he urged residents to be vigilants as crimes like theft and robbery usually increase in number in the last four months of the year even as the security units will intensify their visibility.
City Police Office Director Alberto Lupaz said that in the city, theft has remained the top case that was reported. Between July and September 15, 30 cases were recorded, nearly double than the 16 cases recorded during the same period last year.
Because of this, the office, said Lupaz, has reinstated Oplan RAT (Operation Plan Robbery/Hold-up, Akyat Bahay and Theft).
He also welcomed the relaunching of Oplan Kalinaw, a program aimed at curbing criminal activities.
