ALMOST P50,000 worth of shabu and Illegal firearms were seized from five individuals arrested by Task Force Davao at the checkpoints.
Capt. John Louie Dema-ala, spokesperson of Task Force Davao, said Neljohn Ecoras Amalias, 28, married, and a resident of Purok 14, Barangay Tibungco, Bunawan District was arrested for possession of shabu worth P4,000.
He was flagged down at 6:30 a.m. on July 23 at the Lasang checkpoint.
At around 7:30 a.m. on July 24, Donald Española Badajos, 40, married, and a resident of Purok 3, Poblacion, Nabunturan, Davao de Oro, was also on board a passenger bus that passed through the Lasang checkpoint.
According to the report, Bajados was apprehended for possessing sachets of suspected shabu weighing more or less 0.73 grams with an estimated street value of P11,680.
Meanwhile, on July 26 at around 10 p.m., Arcel C Antonio, 35, married and a resident of Guiwan, Zamboanga City, was arrested at the Sirawan checkpoint in Toril while on board a white Toyota Fortuner bearing plate number GAG 1154.
Intercepted from his possession were a .45 caliber pistol with SN: 371581 and two magazines loaded with 14 live ammo.
At around 11 p.m. on July 27, Carl John Violanda, 29, single, a resident of DDF Village, Barangay Mandug, was arrested for drugs during the inspection at the same checkpoint.
Seven hours later, Bernard Joseph Torida, 27, single, and a resident of Loyola Street, Bo. Obrero, was accosted at around 6 a.m. on July 28. He allegedly yielded shabu weighing 2.1 grams with an estimated street value of P33,600.
The total street value of the confiscated illegal drugs from Sunday to Friday amounted to P49,280.
With these accomplishments, Task Force Davao commander Colonel Darren E. Comia commended the troops for not letting up in screening everyone who tries to enter the city.
The suspects were immediately turned over to concerned police stations as they face appropriate charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and RA 10591 (Illegal Possession of Firearms).
