The City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) advised applicants for locational clearance, zoning, building and other permits to ensure complete sets of requirements beforehand to fast-track the transactions.
Assistant City Planning and Development Coordinator Roy Ryan Rigor said there are about 500 applications submitted to the office weekly even as he reminded those applying for permits to check their documents first before going to their office to make sure these are sufficient to make the transactions faster.
“There are some clients whose documents have discrepancies, and that causes the delay in the issuance of the permit. Another example is when the area needs to be reclassified and that needs the approval of the city council first,” Rigor said.
He said incomplete applications lead to the delay in the approval because the process is slowed down.
He explained that the issuance of some permits, such as for locational clearances, need actual surveys by their personnel and this contributes to the delay.
“There are really too many applications that we receive and it is not only limited to the zoning permits, but there are also a lot more,” he said.
Rigor attributed the increasing number of applications to the booming construction industry and infrastructure development happening in the city.
In the coming years, more infrastructure projects are expected to rise in the city through the Build Build Build program of the administration.
