THE DAVAO City Cacao Council reveals month-long activities for this year’s edition of Kasadya sa Kulturang Kakaw as part of Duaw Davao 2025.
Wit Holganza, council official, said this year’s edition is celebrated along with the Duaw Davao to highlight the Davao Region as cacao capital and Davao City as the chocolate capital of the country.
“The birth of the celebration started four years ago, Davao City as one of the producers of cacao beans have been in the forefront of bringing awareness for the Dabawenyo, that we need to celebrate cacao and chocolate,” Holganza said during the Business Forum at Ahfat, NCCC Victoria Plaza on Friday.
The Kasadya is a localized initiative from World Chocolate Day celebration, she added. The Tsokolate Krawl which runs from June 5-29 is likened to the Davao-famous Coffee Crawl which is participated by 10 homegrown cafes in the city.
The Hulagway sa Kakaw which ends in June 9 is a T-shirt design contest highlighting the beauty and cultural significance of the cacao tree.
Meanwhile, the Kakaw Likha on June 10 is a competition among designers featuring functional wearable accessories (bracelets, earrings, rings, neck pieces, head pieces) inspired by cacao and chocolate.
The pieces for Hulagway and Kakaw Likha will be mounted for public display and appreciation at Ayala Mall-Abreeza.
On June 13-15, the Kasadya will mount a trade exhibition at Abreeza where it will feature Tsokolate Fiesta with MSME/ Chocolate Processors from the region; Kakaw Talks, a learning and business matching series and the gallery featuring the artisanal crafts.
On June 12-19, a week-long collaboration that features local restaurants offering cacao and chocolate-inspired menu creations will host tasting sessions such as delicacies of chocolate with indigenous main courses, cheese, coffee, among others.

On June 18, the Kakaw Farmers’ Fiesta will be a business matching for cacao producers, farmers, MSMEs, and cooperatives featuring value chain actors and partners from cross industries.
The month-long celebration will be capped with the Pasidungog:Kasadya sa Kulturang Kakaw on June 27, which is a 3-hour Tsokolate Art and Music Night with a tableya reception featuring cultural performances and awarding ceremony for Hulagway sa Kakaw, Likha Kakaw, and Tsokolate Obra.
