LTFRB Davao launches Dasutransco MPUVs in Davao Sur

DIGOS CITY –The Davao Sur Transport Cooperative (Dasutransco) formally introduced ten (10) Modernized Jeepneys and UVEs that are set to ply Zone III, Digos City to Tacul, Magsaysay via Hagonoy and Matanao vice versa, and Zone III, Digos City to Upper Bala, Magsaysay vice versa routes during its Oct. 4 launch.

This development has been made possible through the collective initiative of Dasutransco to strengthen the realization of the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP), which seeks to provide Filipinos with comfortable, accessible, reliable, and environment-friendly transportation in the province.

The launching was graced by Presidential Assistant for Eastern Mindanao Sec. Leo Tereso Magno together with LTFRB Davao regional director Nonito Llanos III, Dasutransco Chairperson Evelyn Garciano, Dasutransco members, and government officials of the Province of Davao del Sur and its municipalities, creating another history in the public transportation scene in the province.

To welcome this remarkable development in public transportation, PUVMP Regional Project Management Office Planning Officer III, Engr. Ronnel Victor Panigon, delivered the opening address. 

Cooperative Development Authority XI regional director Glenn Garcia, FUSO general operations manager Ernest Tudtud, OIC of Land Bank of the Philippines – Davao del Sur Lending Center Mr. Ricardo Jamorabon III, Dumper PTDA Party-list represented by Prof. Hadj Balajadia, were also present to show their support for the said endeavor.

In his keynote message, Sec. Magno conveyed his appreciation for this significant milestone in public land transportation. “Marami man akong mga naka-schedule at dapat puntahan ngayong araw, minarapat ko’ng pumunta dito dahil alam kong napaka-importante nitong event na ito,” Sec. Magno expressed.

Alam ninyo ang transportation ang sukatan ng kalagayan ng isang lugar. A country will never run right without the correct transportation system, kaya I am very proud to attend events like this na makikitang nagtutulungan ang pribadong sector – and Dasutransco at ang gobyerno,” he added.

In his message, RD Don Llanos stated his thanks to Dasutransco for their steadfast dedication to PUVMP. “Dako akong pasalamat sa Dasutransco because you made history today under PUVMP,” RD Llanos said.

PUVMP is a program aimed at providing a well-maintained, modern, comfortable, and safe public transport system in the country. The program aims to improve the system of public transport not only for riders but also for drivers and operators so that they can have an adequate and dignified livelihood.
