My word processor just suddenly quit on me. The message on the screen said I needed to activate it again by using, what else, an activation key. It was here that I realized when we purchased our PC, the shop had actually installed an Office app with a five-year warranty so that, beyond that, it would lock all the files I’ve made through those years, without me getting access to them unless I logged in with a valid verification key. With that, more than a thousand of my articles are suddenly out of reach. Major major bummer. My son suggested I download another word processor application and replace the one I used earlier. However, the app from where to get it from promptly advised it needed 24 hours to verify my email account. So for the moment, with this case of what to do, what to do, I temporarily resorted to using the most basic word processor of all, Notepad. As for my other saved Word articles, bye for now.
So, for the last fifty or so write-ups, I’ve been looking at non-formatted versions on the desktop, until my ADHD set in and demanded otherwise. At first, I went basic further, writing by hand, thinking, the pen is mightier than the PC. But years at a keyboard has made my penmanship chicken scribbles. Difficult to store and save files too. A friend suggested, rather harshly as though berating an idiot, “you’ve a processor on your phone, di ba? Why don’t you use it?”
Duh, didn’t think of that before. Like getting a new lease on life, I’ve again found fresh legs, not that you would notice. So, a kick was all I needed. Long ago, a classmate once described me as a nail badly in need of a hammer. In a sense, I must have subconsciously retained that and it must have re-wired me wrong. I’m now thinking, did that program me to be prodded and not be pro-active? No matter, I’m still going with fresh legs still.
So here goes. Two things on the table: social media’s and people’s reactions to both the Cali wildfires and the recent nationwide mass action for peace. For one, it’s quite ironic and dumb that folks are quick on the draw claiming it was God’s wrath that did LA in, just because of a comedienne’s comment. If it were, it could be, His aim’s not that good then. He should’ve aimed at those responsible for the goings-on in Gaza, Ukraine and other war-torn areas.
On to local shores, yesterday’s ruckus hit differently on many people. As always, anything against one’s beliefs, whether political, religious or otherwise, is therefore wrong, stupid and bothersome. What’s new. I mean, I am appreciating the beautiful moon last night and someone calls me out and chastises me for not focusing on more important issues at hand. I’m instantly thinking back to hammer and nails. On his head.
