- Burglars steal over P600-K cash from credit cooperative
A DARING burglary occurred at the USPD Savings and Credit Cooperative in Barangay Catalunan Grande on Wednesday morning resulting in the theft of nearly P700,000 in cash and a .38 caliber revolver.
According to the initial police investigation, the co-op’s security guards discovered a hole in the back wall of the safety vault when they opened for the day on Jan. 15, 2025.
Upon inspection, they found that a significant amount of cash worth P694,277.89 had been stolen from the vault.
Further investigation revealed that the unidentified burglars likely gained entry through the rear portion of a nearby salon, accessed the cooperative through the ceiling of the comfort room, and exited the same way.
The police are investigating the incident to hopefully identify the perpetrators and recover the stolen loot.
