Editorial | Go for best choices

Skeptics will, of course, say that reminding voters not to sell their votes is futile because, as early as the day after the May 2016 elections, politicians already started shopping for votes.

There is an obvious reason to be skeptical, but if this mindset is the guiding principle, then there is no reason for the so-called advocacy groups to spend money, personnel, and other necessary resources in launching voter literacy campaign.

The principle, however, is that no matter if the dent is negligible, there is always the need to push for a worthy advocacy because at the end of the day, what matters most is that the message is conveyed to the intended audience.

Today, as the Filipino voters race to look for their precincts, enter the voting booths and choose their candidates, this paper continues to call on them to choose wisely, no ifs and no buts. This is because the biggest impact of their choices is not only on their lives, but on the lives of their children and their children’s children.

They may play deaf to this call, but the next generation may heed it. After all, they are the ones who are in the right place to institute reforms in any aspects of governance.

Again, this paper urges the Filipino voters to consider the future of the next generation when they make their very important choices.
