DOT XI exhibits Filipino Food Month 2024

THE DEPARTMENT of Tourism (DOT) XI spearheaded the opening ceremony of the Filipino Food Month 2024, with the theme “Kalutong Filipino, Lakas ng Kabataang Makabago,” set on April 19-21 at Ayala Malls Abreeza in Davao City.

The Department of Agriculture, National Commission on Culture and Arts, Philippine Culinary Heritage Movement, and different public and private sectors of Davao City also supported the activity.

In her opening message, Tanya Rabat-Tan, DOT XI regional director, said the event aimed to promote and showcase the Davao Region heritage dishes and preserve culinary traditions.

“We hope this celebration deepens our appreciation for our grown produce and products, as well as gratitude to our local farmers and artisans may it inspire us to ensure these culinary traditions and treasures are passed on to future generations,” she said.

The five provinces of the Davao Region presented their provincial dishes such as the Tamo Lipa of Davao Oriental, the Crispy Lechon Ulo with Vino Oro of Davao De Oro, the Pastil and Lumpiang Shanghai of Davao City, the Ginataan Karne Baboy of Davao Del Sur, and the Banaki of Davao Del Norte.
