City accepts new applicants for the scholarship

THE CITY government is accepting new applications for its scholarship program under the Educational Benefits System Unit (EBSU).

Annually, the EBSU-STEP has an allocation of only 1,000 scholars. The actual number fluctuates depending on the graduates and students dropped from the roster.  For this coming school year, they can only cater to 282 scholars.

Meanwhile, the medicine and law courses have total of 50 slots, wherein 40 will be a full scholarship, and ten will be half scholarship.

The ESBU will launch an E-Scholar app, a mobile responsive web application that includes the qualifications, courses, and financial assistance programs for interested applicants. The platform will be implemented this July 17, where applicants can upload the required files and documents upon applying for their acquired financial assistance.

The E-scholar app is developed by a former scholar of EBSU in collaboration with the research and publication of the University of Mindanao.

“Actually, in line ni siya sa digitalization program sa city government na i-digitized na ang process so mao na gi create ang E-Scholar app para pud malikayan tung makita ninyo every opening sa publication sa scholarship na ang linya sa gawas sa City Hall gikan sa taas, mao tung nakita ni Mayor, dili na niya gusto pa mausab na mulinya pa sila ug mag submit sila sa ilang mga requirements (Actually, this is in line with the digitalization program of the city government to digitized the process, hence, the creation of E-Scholar app to avoid long queue outside the city hall every opening of the scholarship. The mayor witnessed and do not want to do it again upon submitting their requirements),” said Emilio Domingo Jr., ESBU technical assistant.

On June 17, the EBSU Facebook page will post the app link for scholarship applicants urged to submit their documents before July 31, 2023.
