ITCZ affects Davao City: PAGASA

DAVAO City can expect intermittent rains, a welcome respite from weeks of intense heat, due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), while other parts of Mindanao may also anticipate bad weather from the easterlies affecting the country.

In a statement, PAGASA said, “Davao City will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains, lightning and thunder due to the ITCZ, and Bukidnon will experience cloudy to cloudy skies with scattered rains, lightning and thunder due to easterlies or localized thunderstorms.”

The weather bureau also warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate and, at times, heavy rain. It also said the ITCZ will be experienced within a couple of days.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Madayaw Davao, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) head Alfredo Baloran urged Davaoeños to be vigilant and ready for ever-changing weather conditions.

He said despite the sudden rain, PAGASA still forecast a high heat index amid cloudy sky intervals.

He added the CDRRMO is in the process of installing river cameras, coastal cameras, and sirens for flood warnings, in preparation for the La Niña.
