Cafe Gervacios: Your sweet experience is now here!

IN WHAT once was an obscure side of Claveria, Cafe Gervacios was opened to the public on the 20th of April. The opening was a much-anticipated event among friends, family, and the general public who have often been taking a peek at the subtle commotion caused by the construction of the old Export Industries Bank along C.M. Recto Street.

The grand opening was graced by none other than Vice President Sara Zimmerman Duterte-Carpio, and the building’s landlord, Ma’am Emilia G. Mendoza of MX3 and Heavenbount Realty.

The exclusive program for the opening started in the morning. It was mostly friends and family in attendance. The general public was invited to a 4 PM opening.

The support was overwhelming though. The first customer arrived around 3 PM and eagerly entered the Cafe, ignoring the “Closed” sign on the doors. It was a passionate response from the public that even the owners, Cyrleen Ramirez, LG Ramirez, and Chef Boboy Ramirez, cannot help but welcome. The first 25 customers received a free sourdough croissant, then there was a steady stream of customers after that.

The Cafe was quickly filled with customers, with others just opting to take their orders to-go because there were no more available seats. After a week, Cafe Gervacios had to announce that they had to close on April 28 to update operational systems so they could better cater to the unexpected very high demand for their products.

From the Cafe Gervacios’ owners:

“We would like to thank all our family, friends, and the Davao community for supporting us from the very beginning. We still have a lot to improve in our services, and our team still wants to showcase more innovations from our kitchens, to our pastries and to our beverages. We prepared a lot for our opening but the support of our fellow Davaoenos has been much bigger than what we have anticipated. For this, we are truly humbled and thankful.

One of the owners, LG Ramirez pays tribute to their father, the late Gervacio Valencia Ramirez while sharing the story of Cafe Gervacios

“Of course, as a business owner, there’s that question ‘Will they love what we will serve?’ In the end, we just decided if we were going to do it, let us just do it excellently. Now, as part of our promise of excellence, please allow us to keep improving and we hope to still see each and every one of you at Cafe Gervacios.”

Cafe Gervacios is located along C.M. Recto Street. They are open every day from 9 AM to 10 PM.
