Over 1,000 join incumbent representative Ecleo in filing reelection COC

IN A massive show of support, over 1,000 Dinagatnons from different parts of Dinagat Islands joined incumbent Cong. Alan 1 B. Ecleo as he filed for re-election as the Representative of the Lone District of Dinagat Islands.
Ecleo filed his certificate of candidacy on Oct. 8, along with the incumbent re-electionist Vice Governor Benglen Ecleo and gubernatorial candidate Lamberto “Sonny” Llamera, former mayor of the Municipality of Libjo.
“I am overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response of my fellow Dinagatnons to my re-election bid,” said Cong. Ecleo. “It proves that the work we have done to lift Dinagat Islands up from the aftermath of disaster and from economic hardship is being appreciated by our Dinagatnon brothers and sisters.”
Ecleo, the Provincial Chair of the LAKAS-CMD Party in Dinagat Islands, plans to carry over the Party’s dominant share in local governance, with its slate including five out of seven incumbent Municipal Mayors and a majority of the Councilors in six out of seven Municipalities in the Province.
“We plan to continue the LAKAS brand of decisive leadership, responsive legislation, and quick action as the mark of True Dinagatnon leadership,” said Ecleo. “Dinagatnons still need and deserve more. And they will get more.”
First elected in 2019 and re-elected in 2022, Ecleo served as the Dinagat Islands rep during the COVID-19 crisis and the devastation and aftermath of Typhoon Odette. Ecleo gained national attention when he spoke before Congress and chided the “dismal response” to the urgent needs of Dinagatnons during Typhoon Odette.
“Moving out of the shadow of Odette, we did all that we can to make sure that these urgent Bills pass the House of Representatives during our term,” Ecleo stressed during his State of The District Address, which he delivered in San Jose after filing his Certificate of Candidacy.
“In our third term, we will continue to deliver more jobs, more livelihood, more infrastructure to boost our local economy and give Dinagatnons a fighting chance at a more prosperous future,” the Dinagatnon patriarch added.
