- Driver killed after own truck runs him over in Sasa
A TRUCK DRIVER was killed in a freak accident on Thursday night in Sasa when he was run over by his own vehicle.
Captain Hazel Tuazon, the spokesperson of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), identified the victim as Jerson Almero Ariston, 48, who was reportedly inspecting the rear right tires of his Prime Mover Truck (AAZ 4213) outside Kudos Trucking Corporation in Daang Maharlika National Highway around 8:32 p.m. when the accident occurred.
Witness Michael Medecelo Belotendes, a security guard at Kudos, said he saw Ariston lying near the tires before the truck suddenly moved forward.
It appears the truck’s brake hose had detached, causing it to roll and fatally injure Ariston, the report said.
The Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (BDRRMC) emergency responders pronounced Ariston dead at the scene.
His co-driver, Raul Chua, confirmed that Ariston was driving the truck alone at the time.
The victim’s body was transported to Rivera Funeral Homes where his wife, Maridith Sibayan, positively identified him. Meanwhile, the police are conducting further investigation into the accident to rule out foul play.
