Partnership inked for safe water project

The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) has signed a partnership with two private companies to provide safe water to communities.
Liezel Salera, Force 21 assistant manager, said during the weekly Wednesdays @ Habi at Kape – Abreeza said the project will initially help schools in the city and in Marawi City.
The September 2018 memorandum of understanding, said Salera, is that the government and private sectors can collaborate for a sustainable water project in the community.”
Salera said the decided to venture into the project because safe water is among the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.
Within the next two months, she said, the partnership will implement the collaboration in the two pilot areas.
“According to DepEd, there are about 11 public elementary schools (in the city) that have very dire access to safe potable water affecting the health of the students,” Salera said.
The company is also planning to bring the technology to local government units so that these will able to come up with water resiliency programs. “We make opportunities to create collaborations to provide the technologies to our beneficiaries who cannot afford these technologies,” she said.
At present, she said, the adoption of the technology will be dependent on the LGUs even as the group is also looking at extending the program to the so-called critical areas.
“Those communities really need help with access to safe water,” Salera added.
