A 27-YEAR-OLD woman was arrested on Dec. 16, 2024, after being caught shoplifting at a grocery store in Bangkal, Davao City.
According to the Davao City police report, alias Abigail, a resident of Toril District, was apprehended by store security after she was seen placing several packs of chocolates into her bag without paying.
Recovered from the possession and control of the suspect were nine packs of Hershey’s Kisses milk chocolate with almonds, which cost P 204.50 each, totaling P 1,840.50, and six packs of Hershey’s Kisses white chocolate with confectionery cookie bits (cookies ‘n’ crème), which cost Php 249 each, with a total of P 1,497.
The stolen items, valued at P3,337.50, were recovered from her possession.
The arrested suspect was handed over to PCpl Al-fazer Sali, the duty mobile patroller assigned in the area, who informed her of the law she violated as well as her constitutional rights.
The suspect is currently detained at Police Station 3–Talomo Station.
Moreover, Captain Hazel Tuazon, the spokesperson of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), said the incident served as a reminder to the public that shoplifting is a serious offense with legal consequences.
