Wanderlust | BPI, DDI give back to earthquake victims

Earthquake-hit communities show their gratitude for the help

The recent Taal eruption and the Covid-19 outbreak may have grabbed the headlines in recent weeks but it was just 4 months ago when Cotabato province and Davao del Sur suffered after being hit by back to back earthquakes.

To this day, the people of these provinces are still reeling in the aftermath of the quakes, slowly rebuilding their lives one day at a time.

To heed their call for assitance, BPI, through its corporate social innovation arm, BPI Foundation, in collaboration with the Davao Digital Influencers, Inc., reached out to various communities in Matanao, Davao Del Sur through Tabang Ta, a community-initiated organization.

“With the recent 4.9 magnitude earthquake that hit Davao Del Sur, BPI, through its corporate social innovation arm, BPI Foundation provided immediate assistance to Dabawenyos who were affected by this calamity,” said BPI head of stakeholder relations management-corporate affairs Archie E. Nicasio.

The program is in line with BPI Foundation’s disaster response program called BAYANihan. Under BAYANihan, assistance was also extended to those severely impacted by the Taal volcano eruption.

BPI and DDI’s donations were used in purchasing mosquito nets, pails, and other kitchen and house wares during a series of post-Valentine outreach programs.
