THE PUBLIC Safety and Security Office warned food vendors against selling food to the student-athletes participating in the school premises Davao Region Athletic Association Meet (DAVRAA) 2024.

During the iSpeak forum on Tuesday, March 26, PSSO head Angel Sumagaysay said they will disallow food vendors to avoid incidents that could pose health risks to players.

Dili pwede na i-sacrifice ang security ng mga estudyante because you know what? Very crucial ang mga pagkaon na ginadawat ng mga estudyante kung wala ta kabalo giunsa na paghimo,” Sumagaysay said.

He also said they are closely coordinating with the police auxiliary group and law enforcers to keep an eye out for stubborn vendors.

On top of that, Department of Education Schools Division superintendent Reynante Solitario assured that the food poisoning incident in 2018 that downed 30 delegates from Mati City would not happen again.

Solitario also shared they previously discussed appropriate food management with all medical professionals and offices. Water is also safe, as it has already been tested by the Davao City Water District.

He also reminded the athletes and each delegation member to avoid reheating and eating leftover foods.

Previously, Sumagaysay said security preparations are 90% ready for the regional meet from April 1-7.  He said around 14,000 law enforcers, or an average of 1,400 daily, will secure the delegates coming from the different cities and towns.

He said the security plan, traffic plan, and Disaster Risk Reduction Plan have been combined into one book and given to the DepEd to serve as a reference and guide for the delegates.
