Two men with gov’t IDs nabbed in drug buy-bust

TWO MEN were arrested in a buy-bust operation at the main road of Fortune Executive Homes in Barangay Hizon at 1:10 p.m. on July 24.

They were identified as Antonio Catito Carpenter, 47, jobless, a resident of the Narra Street, Sto. Niño, Mintal, and Ruel Deligencia Lopez, 49, jobless, and a resident of Doña Pilar Village, Barangay Sasa.

Capt. Nolan Tagsip, officer-in-charge of the Sasa Police Station, said that both suspects were included in the Directorate for Intelligence drugs watchlist. The buy-bust was coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency XI.

He said they were caught selling shabu worth P12,000 to the undercover agent.

Confiscated from the possession from Carpenter were two sachets of shabu, one black iPhone, P17,000 cash, and the Honda Click used by the suspect. Also seized from him were two identification cards from the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, both in the Caraga region.

Recovered from the possession of Lopez was a medium sachet of shabu, one Nokia keypad cellphone, and one ID identifying him as a member of the National Bureau of Investigation.

Tagsip said they will not stop their anti-criminality campaign even if their resources are stretched because of the pandemic.

“We shall not be hindered to enforce the Law and to continue the efforts on the war against illegal drugs,” he added.

Tagsip said they are still conducting an investigation if the IDs confiscated from the two men were authentic or not.
