Two alleged thieves killed after resisting arrest: DCPO

TWO theft suspects when they allegedly fought the arresting officers in Bacaca and Calinan on Nov. 7 and Nov. 9.

Captain Hazel Tuazon, spokesperson of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), said the suspect was identified only as alias Norly, single, jobless, and a resident of Domsat Road, San Rafael Village.

She said Norly was a notorious robber involved in several hold-up and theft incidents. He was pinpointed by the victim as the one who stole a Polato mountain bike worth P10,000 in El Rio Vista.

According to the report, Norly was about to be arrested in a follow-up operation, still riding the stolen bicycle at Phase 2, Petonia Street, El Rio.

However, he drew his gun and fired at the police. The operations team retaliated and shot him back. He was brought to the Southern Philippines Medical Center but died at past 4 a.m.

The Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) seized a caliber .38 revolver loaded with four rounds of ammunition and fired cartridge case in the cylinder, a camouflage sling bag containing P115, a BDO Cash Card, and the stolen mountain bike.

Likewise, collected at the crime scene were two pieces fired cartridge cases of caliber .9mm.

On the other hand, another robbery suspect identified as alias Ben was killed in an operation conducted by the Calinan police on Nov. 7.

According to the report, residents reported three unidentified men loading live goats and fighting cocks on their yellow tricycle at Balintong, Barangay Riverside Calinan District.

The operatives were sent to the area to investigate and spotted the men traveling along the main road. They flagged down the tricycle only to be welcomed by gunfire. They retaliated and hit Ben while the two others eluded arrest.

He was brought by the responding Mobile Patrol 97 to Isaac T. Robillo Hospital in Calinan but was declared dead on arrival.
