A COMPANY driver was arrested after illegal drugs were seized from him while passing through the AFP-PNP checkpoint in Lasang (Barangay Alejandra Navarro), Bunawan District on Thursday, Sept. 30.
Authorities identified him as Redemto Taer Gepolla, 43, married, and a resident of Deca Homes, Tacunan, who was on board a white Isuzu elf truck with Plate# KAF 8859, traveling toward Davao City.
During the mandatory checkpoint inspection, the authorities discovered a chunk of shabu weighing more or less 11.4 grams with an estimated street value of P182,400 and drug paraphernalia from the suspect.
The suspect was placed under the custody of the Bunawan Police Station for proper disposition.
The Task Force Davao said the arrest only proved that the intensified joint AFP-PNP checkpoint operation for the month of September was working.
Among the big catch recorded for the month involved two individuals who were arrested for trying to sneak in P48,000 worth of suspected shabu and 62 illegal firearms inside Davao City at the Lacson checkpoint in Calinan District.
