Torre Lorenzo builds solar farm at Lubi Plantation Resort

TORRE Lorenzo Development Corporation inaugurated its 756-unit solar farm with a 415-kilowatt hour energy consumption at Dusit Thani Lubi Plantation Resort, Davao de Oro on Sept. 4.

The project is a partnership with COREnergy Incorporated, a fully-owned subsidiary of Vivant Energy Corporation.

The solar power has an output of 415.8kWp which is equivalent to 6,084 trees planted yearly, and will be able to supply 60% of the resort’s power needs when it reaches its full development.

The Dusit Thani Lubi Plantation Resort, according to TLDC chief executive officer Tomas Lorenzo, is an example of how luxury and sustainability can thrive together.

“We are proud to integrate sustainable practices in our operations that help provide a more meaningful customer experience to guests,” Lorenzo said.

Michael Lasam, COREnergy chief operating officer, also said, “We at COREnergy believe that with TLDC and Dusit Thani Lubi Plantation Resort leading the way, we would see more and more property owners and major players in the hospitality sector taking steps towards sustainability.”

TLDC chief operations officer Cathy Casares-Ko also believes that embracing sustainability is crucial for the company’s long-term strategy.

“This solar farm is a very meaningful investment that we know will benefit not just the resort, but most especially the environment and the community that surrounds us,” Ko added.

Based on their customer service data, an increase of 30% of the resort’s clients always look at the sustainability seal. The installation of the project means there will be less fuel consumption at a 90% Solar Self Consumption Estimate, and a 35% Diesel Limit within the island.
