Torn citation tickets will not erase liability: CTTMO head

THE CITY Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) warned drivers against tearing their citation tickets because the government has a system to trace unpaid fines.

He said those with records could not renew their PUV IDs, motorized tricycle operators permits, (MTOP) and will not be eligible for the High Priority Bus System enrollment.

CTTMO head Dionisio Abude said they discovered ten drivers who ripped the citation tickets issued by apprehending officers. He said it would not erase their liabilities.

Bisan gision pa nila kay naa man tong original masulod gihapon kay ma encode gihapon tanan (The original still exists even if they tear it, and everything would be encoded),” he said.

Abude said the penalties would only accumulate, adding to the driver’s burdens.

(It is normal to [issue tickets] because we are only enforcers. The violations are seen by our enforcers and our almost 400 deputized police enforcers, so they issue the citation tickets. Those who will not pay will reflect on our system),” Abude said.

Meanwhile, he confirmed that they received unsavory comments after their Facebook page was hacked. The take-down request is in progress, but they cannot presently access their page.

I-take down na gyud siya, nga tanggalon siya, [mao na ang] request namo. Sa makakita dili na mao ang purpose. Ang uban nagapost na ug dili maayo nga mga comment. Gihimo man gud namo na in 2016 para makapahibalo sa katawhan kung naa sila’y mga mulo nga pwede nila ipaagi sa Facebook (The request is to fully take down the page since it no longer serves its purpose. Others are already posting rude comments. We created that page way back in 2016 to allow people to relay their comments through Facebook),” he said.

The CTTMO is now using radio and other platforms to relay announcements and updates.
