Top pusher killed

An alleged drug pusher tagged as number one in the jurisdiction of Sta. Ana Police Precinct was killed in a shootout during a buy-bust operation Sunday morning.

Chief Insp. Michael Uyanguren, commander of the Sta. Ana Police Precinct, identified the fatality as Ian Laurente Habana, 24, tricycle driver, and resident of Boulevard, Barangay 22-C, Poblacion District.

Uyanguren said Habana was the top 1 of the station’s drug watch list.

The operatives, in cooperation with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), conducted the operation at the San Guillermo Chapel in Brgy. 22-C at 11:25 a.m., Sunday.

An undercover agent was able to buy a sachet of suspected shabu from the target.

After the transaction, the poseur buyer then identified himself as police officer.

As the police officer proceeded to make the arrest, Habana allegedly pulled out a .38 caliber revolver handgun.

He shot the arresting officer.

Fortunately, the officer evaded and immediately returned fire.

The suspect was hit.

The operating team immediately rushed the suspect to the Southern Philippines Medical Center for immediate medical attention. But he was declared dead by the attending doctor.

At the hospital, authorities recovered from the body of the suspect one P500 money and confiscated three elongated sachet suspected to contain shabu inside a brown leather coin purse.

The illegal drug was estimated to weigh 0.085 grams, with a street market value of P3,000.
